Ways I’ve practised self care this week

Every Sunday I like to give you ideas on ways you can practise self care. However I feel it would be hypocritical of me to preach about self care and it’s importance, if I don’t also follow my own advice. So this Sunday I’d like to tell you some things I have been doing this week to look after myself.

If you would like some self care Sunday ideas – take a look here. Additionally here are some self care evening ideas.

Walk on the beach

OK so I know I talk about how much I LOVE living near the coast, and I actually included it in my last gratitude post, but this is one of my favourite things to do to practise self care. I find the sea air and exercise so refreshing and it helps to clear my sometimes busy mind.

Cooked my favourite meal

Me and my boyfriend are huge foodies and we really enjoy cooking each other meals, so on our only free week day night together this week we cooked my favourite, spaghetti bolognese – and it was lovely! A great mid-week treat and did I mention the tear-and-share garlic bread?!

Puppy cuddles

8-week-old Harley

This little bundle of absolute joy came into my life on Wednesday. Meet Harley – he is an 8-week old Cockapoo puppy. My mum’s boyfriend has just adopted this little bundle of fluff and he has been staying at our house. He is going to be trained as a therapeutic dog for elderly people with Alzheimers and dementia. I can’t tell you how beautiful it is to cuddle a puppy – it’s too much!

Admittedly I know this was out of my control ,and wasn’t something I went out of my way to practise self-care, but I HAD to include his cute face on my blog!

Rehearsals

I’ve spoken about how much I love performing in musicals. I am currently rehearsing for a production of Legally Blonde at Playhouse Whitley Bay. This week I really enjoyed rehearsals and I’m looking forward to being in the ensemble and playing Chutney Wyndham in May.

If you’d like to come and see the show you can get tickets here.

Belated Valentines Day meal

Last night I went to one of my favourite Asian cuisine restaurants with my boyfriend for a belated Valentines Day treat as we were both busy on Valentines Day. As previously mentioned we LOVE food so this was a perfect date for us and the food was delicious!

Thanks for reading – I’d love to know what you’ve been unto this week to practise self care. Let me know in the comments below. Happy Sunday!
