It’s Sunday, give yourself a break! The world won’t stop turning if you take a bit of time out today. Even if you’re finding it impossible to get a minute to yourself, I’m going to share with you five ideas that are easy to to squeeze into your day.
Switch off your phone and don’t log on to social media
Why is it that even though we’re super busy, we will always make the time to scroll through Facebook? The average monthly Facebook user will spend 27 minutes a day using the social network. So instead of using those 27 minutes to mindlessly scroll, and look a photos of your neighbours cat, why don’t you use this time to do something beneficial to your mental health?
Light a scented candle
I am obsessed with scented candles, I love how the smell fills the air and the glow on my mantlepiece. I never feel like a house is truly homely unless they have their scented candles lit.
I usually light them in the evening and stick on a film, but you could read a book or even carry on with your household chores. It’s such a simple thing to do.
If you’re particularly stressed out, I’d recommend a lavender smell. However I absolutely love a vanilla scented candle.
Have a hot chocolate
When was the last time you had a hot chocolate? For me it was months ago. They are a sweet treat that we don’t often allow ourselves to indulge in. But it is self-care Sunday so just allow yourself to enjoy a warm mug of chocolatey heaven. If your’e not a hot chocolate drinker, you could have a cup of warm milk?
Do some colouring in

This sounds like a strange one, but in the past couple of years adult colouring in books have become very popular because they allow you to practise mindfulness.
You can get some beautiful adult colouring in books, I love The Secret Garden by Johanna Basford.
You don’t even have to do this for very long, if you only have ten minutes spare today, just use that time to concentrate on the colours on the page.
Run a bubble bath and listen to your favourite album
I don’t think I’ll need to do much convincing here because if like me, you love a bubble bath, then you know exactly what I mean when I say it is bliss. You can’t go anywhere, you just have to sit and enjoy the warm bubbles.
I know it’s hard to sometimes be selfish when you’re busy and life is making strenuous demands of you, it’s important to re-balance.
